## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ACTING AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND OF A PIPER PA-23-250, N62840 ON A VFR FLIGHT FROM BEDFORD HANSCOM FIELD (BED) TO BOIRE FIELD (ASH). THE FLIGHT WAS NORMAL UP UNITL TOUCH DOWN WHEN THE PILOT REALIZED HE HAD FORGOTTEN TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. THE OWNER OF N62840, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS OCCUPYING THE RIGHT PILOT SEAT AND ALSO FAILED TO NOTICE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD NOT LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR. INVESTIGATION REVEALED LANDING GEAR SYSTEM WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS JACKED UP FOR REMOVAL FROM THE RUNWAY, THE LANDING GEAR WAS LOWERED USING THE NORMAL EXTENSION SYSTEM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
