## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)THE PILOT WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 18 AT HENDRICKS COUNTY AIRPORT (2R2), DANVILLE, IN, WHEN HE ENCOUNTERED A GUST OF WIND AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET AGL. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SEVERELY DISPLACED TO THE LEFT AND THE PILOT COULD NOT OVERCOME THE DISPLACEMENT WITH AILERON AND RUDDER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT GAINING ALTITUDE AND THE PILOT DECIDED TO CONTINUE TURNING TO THE LEFT AND CIRCLE BACK TO THE RUNWAY HE DEPARTED. AS HE TURNED BACK FOR THE RUNWAY, THE MAIN GEAR TOUCHED THE ROOF OF A HANGAR AND A HARD LANDING WAS MADE IN THE GRASS, EAST OF THE TAXIWAY. AS A RESULT OF THE HARD LANDING, THE MAIN GEAR WAS SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT, RESULTING IN A FINAL GROUND LOOP WHERE THE AIRCRAFT ULTIMATELY CAME TO REST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
