## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT FLEW OVER SOME TREES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PASS. PILOT WAS HEAVY AND WAS FLARING WHEN HE REALIZED HE WAS TOO LOW. THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE STRUCK THE LEVEE IN THE RICE FIELD AND CARTWHEELED THE AIRCRAFT THREE TIMES. THE ENGINE EMPENNAGE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE AIRCRAFT LEAVING THE COCKPIT AND WINGS INTACT. NO INJURIES REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW08CA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW08CA195), Jul 22, 2008: Grumman 164A (N7249), Lake Providence, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane while maneuvering during an aerial application. Contributing to the accident was the wind gust.

## Other reports on N7249 (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19911216059229I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911216059229I), Dec 16, 1991: Scwzer G164A (N7249), Elaine, AR, Minor damage. Brakes failed on rollout. Veered off runway. Rust had collected on brake guide pens. Brake cylinder restricted.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
