## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N704JD WAS CONDUCTING INITIAL TAKEOFF AND LANDING SOLO TOUCH AND GO ON KDVT RUNWAY 25R. AFTER TOUCHING DOWN ON RUNWAY, AIRCRAFT EXITED RUNWAY PRIOR TO TAXIWAY B-9, CROSSED TAXIWAY B AND TAXIWAY B-9. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP NOSE DOWN IN INFIELD, WITH DAMAGE TO FIREWALL AND WING SPAR. PILOT DOES NOT RECALL THE CHAIN OF EVENTS CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO DEPART THE RUNWAY. SUSPECTED DIRECTIONAL LOSS OF CONTROL BY STUDENT, POSSIBLY BY VISUAL PREOCCUPATION INSIDE AIRCRAFT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETRACT FLAPS, DISENGAGE CARBURETOR HEAT AND APPLYING POWER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08CA257](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA257), Jul 28, 2008: Cessna 150M (N704JD), Phoenix, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain directional control during a touch-and-go landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
