## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) 7/30/2008 - THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN IFR TRAINING FLIGHT AND DEPARTED KVGT ENROUTE TO KPRC. THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN IN THE AIR FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES AND WAS AT AN ALTITUDE OF 9,000 FEET WHEN THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER. THE CFI TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, CONTACTED LAS VEGAS APPROACH CONTROL AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE CFI ALSO REPORTED TO THE CONTROLLER HE COULD NOT SEE SMOKE BUT WAS EXPERIENCING SEVERE VIBRATIONS AND A LOSS OF POWER. THE CFI WAS VECTORED TO THE CLOSEST AIRPORT WHICH WAS 61B.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
