## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) EXAMINATION OF RUNWAY AND TIRE MARKS INDICATES THAT PILOT APPEARED TO HAVE LANDED FAST ON NOSE WHEEL THEN VEERED TO THE LEFT CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO DEPART THE RUNWAY. AFTER EXITING THE RUNWAY, THE NOSE WHEEL STRUCK A NONFRANGIBLE RUNWAY LIGHT WHICH CAUSED THE NOSE WHEEL TO BE BROKEN OFF OF THE STRUT. AFTER THE NOSE WHEEL BROKE OFF, THE STRUT DUG INTO THE GROUND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER ONTO THE ROOF. AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE PILOT SUFFERED 3 BROKEN VERTEBRA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI08CA225](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI08CA225), Jul 31, 2008: Aero Commander 200D (N260M), Tecumseh, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot flaring too high, and his inadvertent pilot-induced oscillation during the landing flare/touchdown. Contributing to the accident was the collapse of the nose landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
