## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THE MORNING OF THE ACCIDENT THE STUDENT PILOT RECEIVED PRE-SOLO DUAL INSTRUCTION AND AN ENDORSEMENT FOR SOLO FLIGHT. DURING THE SUBSEQUENT SOLO FLIGHT THE STUDENT PILOT MADE LEFT CLOSED TRAFFIC FOR RUNWAY 16. DURING THE LANDING FLARE; THE AIRCRAFT BARELY TOUCHED THE GRASS AND THEN BALLOONED APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET. THE STUDENT PILOT THEN PUSHED THE NOSE DOWN, ADDED POWER AND QUICKLY RETRACTED FLAPS. AT THIS POINT THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED VIOLENTLY ONTO THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ON THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET BEFORE RUNNING OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 16. THE LEFT WING STRUCK A BARBED WIRE FENCE. THIS TURNED THE AIRCRAFT FURTHER LEFT AND THROUGH THE FENCE. AT THIS POINT, THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT STRUCK A COW, FATALLY WOUNDING IT. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE STUDENT PILOT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS LEFT FOREARM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
