## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS PRACTICING CROSSWIND LANDINGS ON LAKE WASHINGTON IN THE VICINITY OF KENMORE AIR HARBOR (S60) AND INCOUNTERED A QUARTERING TAILWIND DURING LANDING. WHILE ON THE STEP AND ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT FOR THE TAILWIND, THE RIGHT WING TIP AND RIGHT FLOAT STRUCK THE WATER CAUSING THE WING TIP TO BEND UPWARDS AND WRINKLING THE FORWARD TOP SKIN OF THE RIGHT FLOAT. AIRCRAFT WAS ABLE TO BE TAXIED SAFELY TO KENMORE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08CA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08CA171), Aug 4, 2008: de Havilland Beaver DHC-2 MK.1 (N53BV), Kenmore, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control while water taxiing. Contributing to the accident were the pilot's failure to compensate for the wind condition and a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
