## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 08/10/2008 AT APPROX 2130 AT CH2000, N376AM, PILOTED BY A PRIVATE PILOT (PENDING; ISSUED 06/19/2008), MADE AN UNCONTROLLABLE LANDING AT MCE (MERCED. CA). THE LANDING WAS HARD AND THE AIRCRAFT PORPOSED, RESULTING IN THE NOSE GEAR BEING TORN OFF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND/OR FIRE. THE PILOT WAS FLYING SOLO, NO PAX'S. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS SUDDENLY STARTLED BY AN "ANIMAL" ON THE RUNWAY AND HE ATTEMPTED TO GO-AROUND WHICH RESULTED IN THE PORPOISING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
