## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT WAS ON HIS SECOND CROSS COUNTRY, AND DIVERTED TO KFFX FROM ANOTHER AIRPORT BECAUSE THE ORIGINALDESTINATION'S WINDS WERE TOO HIGH. THE WINDS AT KFFX WERE GUSTING STRAIGHT DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT CLAIMED WHEN HE CHECKED THE AWOS THAT THEY WERE NOT GUSTING. THE WIND AT THE TIME OF THE INCICDENT DID EXCEED HIS LIMITATIONS ON HIS ENDORSEMENT FOR SOLO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND, THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP ON THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY THAT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THE METAR WAS REPORTING GUSTING OF 22 KNOTS. MINIMAL DAMAGE WAS CAUSED TO THE AIRPLANE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
