## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)ON AUGUST 11, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 1800 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND OF CESSNA 210, N98KC, EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING NEAR GREEN RIVER IN AUBURN AFTER THE ENGINE FAILED DURING FLIGHT. THE FORCED LANDING TOOK PLACE ON A SOFT FARMER'S FIELD WITH IRRIGATION PIPES RUNNING PERPENDICULAR TO THE DIRECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE AND SEPARATE FROM THE AIRCRAFT AFTER HITTING THE SECOND IRRIGATION PIPE, WHICH EVENTUALLY CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, BUT THE PASSENGERS ONLY SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08CA176](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08CA176), Aug 12, 2008: Cessna 210E (N98KC), Auburn, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A catastrophic engine failure due to the partial blockage of the lubricating oil galley in one of the crankshaft connecting rod journals, leading to the failure of the connecting rod cap.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
