## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, AFTER TAKEOFF, THE AIRCRAFT PICKED UP A TARP (USED FOR MARKING THE LANDING AREA) WHICH SNAGGED ON THE TAIL AREA AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO LOSE AIRPSEED AND ALTITUDE STRIKING THE ALDER BUSHES ABOUT 100 YARDS PAST THE DEPARTURE END OF THE STRIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC08CA108](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC08CA108), Aug 14, 2008: Piper PA-18-150 (N3573Z), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a tarp used as a marker at the departure end of the takeoff area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
