## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 08/15/2008 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHILE LANDING AT MOUNTAIN PARK AIRPORT (0GE5) IN CLEVELAND, GEORGIA ON RUNWAY 17 STATED THAT HE WAS HIGH AT THE THRESHOLD AND TOUCHED DOWN AT ABOUT 65 MPH. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ APPLIED FULL BRAKES AND SAW THAT HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP BEFORE THE FENCE AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE STEERED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE WEST FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREATING A LARGE ARC TO USE UP GROUND SPEED. HE HAD APPLIED FULL LEFT RUDDER AND WHEN HE DID THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND TURNED OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA283](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA283), Aug 15, 2008: Piper PA-22-160 (N8906D), Cleveland, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to land with a tailwind, and his failure to maintain aircraft control during the landing. Contributing to the accident was the tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
