## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AGRICULTURAL OPERATION. ON THE FOURTH LOAD OF THE MORNING (IDENTICAL LOADS) THE AIRCRAFT FAILED TO GAIN SUFFICIENT AIRPSEED TO FLY OUT OF GROUND EFFECT. DUE TO OBSTACLES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE PILOT TRIED TO CLIMB-OUT OF GROUND EFFECT WITH INSUFFICIENT AIRPSEED. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT CLIMB AND SETTLED INTO TERRAIN AND OBSTACLES. IT APPEARS THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND FIRST. THE RIGHT WING HIT A POLE CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH THE TOP AND BOTTOM WINGS. THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED 180 DEGREES AND CAME TO REST FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE FLIGHT. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR STRUT SEPARATED FROM THE FUSELAGE AND THE RIGHT MAIN WHEEL ASSEMBLY SEPARATED FROM THE STRUT. PROPELLER, COWLING AND FUSELAGE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. A DAMAGED GATE RESULTED IN ALL CHEMICAL BEING SPILLED. DAMAGE TO THE FUEL TANK AND LINES RESULTED IN MOST OF THE FUEL (#1 OFF-RAOD DIESEL) RUNNING OUT. NO POST FIRE. THE PILOT SUSPECTS A WIND SHIFT RESULTING IN A QUARTERING TAIL WIND. GROUND CREW INDICATED THAT THE WINDS HAD SHIFTED AND THAT THE AIRPLANE APPEARED TO NOT ACCELERATE AT A NORMAL RATE DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08CA183](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08CA183), Aug 18, 2008: Grumman Acft Eng G-164A (N6702Q), Hazelton, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the tailwind and failure to attain and maintain airspeed, which resulted in an inadvertent stall. The tailwind was a contributing factor.
