## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER RELOADING THE HOPPER AND REFUELING THE AIRCRAFT, THE PIOT ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF FROM A PRIVATE GRASS FARM STRIP. THE STRIP HAD A DIP AND/OR RUT APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY DOWN ITS LENGTH. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE AND THEN SETTLED BACK TO THE SURFACE, AND THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR CONTACTED THE RUT. THE IMPACT WAS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO TEAR THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR FROM THE AIRPLANE. THERE WAS ALSO DAMAGE TO THE LEFT MAIN GEAR, THE PROP, AND TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FIREWALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI08CA260](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI08CA260), Aug 20, 2008: Cessna A188B (N53243), Camanche, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot took off on an unsuitable airstrip which resulted in the airplane becoming prematurely airborne with inadequate airspeed after it contacted a rise in the terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
