## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 22, 2008, APPROXIMATELY 1750 MDT, N601PC, A BEECH KING AIR A100 IMPACTED HILLY TERRAIN SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF FROM THE CANYONLANDS FIELD AIRPORT (CNY), MOAB, UTAH. INITIAL IMPACT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 1.2 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CNY. THE WRECKAGE DEBRIS PATH WAS APPROXIMATELY 284 FEET IN LENGTH, FROM THE FIRST IDENTIFIED POINT OF CONTACT TO THE MAIN WRECKAGE, ALONG A HEADING OF APPROXIMATELY 144 DEGREES MAGNETIC. THE ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION INDICATED THE AIRCRAFT BELLY IMPACTED THE UPSLOPE SIDE OF HILLY TERRAIN IN A RIGHT WING LOW, NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. EVIDENCE OF POST IMPACT FIRE BEGAN AT THIS POINT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ACROSS A PLATEAU AND THEN CAME TO REST ON THE DOWNSLOPE SIDE OF HILLY TERRAIN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY POST IMPACT FIRE. THERE WERE NO KNOWN WITNESSES TO THE ACCIDENT SEQUENCE. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION INDICATED A POSSIBLE PERFORMANCE ISSUE. THE AIRCRAFT ENGINES AND PROPELLERS WERE INSPECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT THESE COMPONENTS WERE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND WERE PRODUCING SUBSTANTIAL POWER AT THE TIME OF IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
