## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) IN A WRITTEN STATEMENT PROVIDED BY THE PILOT, HE STATED THAT "AFTER COMPLETING THE TAKEOFF CHECKLIST GAVE UNIT TAKEOFF POWER. UNIT WAS MOVING VERY SLOW, APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I FELT A SLIGHT SIDEWAYS LIKE BUMP TO THE NOSE WHEEL. I INSTINCTIVELY MOVED THE STICK BACK TO REDUCE WEIGHT ON NOSE WHEEL. I OBVIOUSLY PULLED BACK TOO FAR, BECAUSE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE PREMATURELY AT MINIMUM AIRSPEED. THIS 701 REQUIRES FULL RIGHT RUDDER ON TAKEOFF. IT IS MY OPINION THAT I DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT FORWARD AIR SPEED TO OVERCOME THE TORQUE FROM THE ENGINE THUS TURNING ME TO THE LEFT, FULL RIGHT RUDDER DID NOT STOP DRIFT TO THE LEFT. I ATTEMPTED TO RECOVER UNSUCCESSFULLY AND ENDED UP RUNNING OFF RUNWAY AND INTO TREES ON LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY."

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA294](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA294), Aug 22, 2008: Sacrey W Michael Zenair CH (N404BB), Fincastle, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent premature rotation during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
