## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING A “GOLF BALL” DROP, AIRCRAFT APPROACHED DROP AREA INTO A HEAD WIND. MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN SLOWED CLOSE TO ZERO FORWARD AIRSPEED BELOW TREE LINE WHILE HEADING IN AN UPHILL DIRECTION WITH WHAT HAD KNOW BECOME A TAILWIND, SHIFTING TO A RIGHT QUARTING CROSSWIND. RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT STARTING TO PORPOSE AND SPIN TO RIGHT RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT LANDED ON AN ADJOINING GOLF COURSE APPROXIMATELY 150 YARDS FROM GOLF BALL DROP AREA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08LA287](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08LA287), Aug 22, 2008: Bell 206A (N67AR), Barnesville, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the helicopter during the low-speed, low-altitude maneuver which resulted in a loss of tail rotor effectiveness.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
