## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 26, 2008, AT APPROXIMATELY 0720 EASTERN TIME, AN EMBRAER EMB-145-EP, N801HK, FLIGHT NUMBER 3505 CONDUCTED UNDER 14 CFR PART 121, BY TRANS STATES AIRLINES INC, EN ROUTE FROM RICHMOND, (KRIC) LANDED AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KPIT), PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA AFTER DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEN THE NUMBER ONE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 10R WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIRE FIGHTING (ARFF) UNITS HAD RESPONDED YET WERE NOT UTILIZED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT INCIDENT. A HYDRAULIC SPILL FROM N801HK CAUSED THE RUNWAY TO BE CLOSED. ACCORDING TO THE AIRCRAFT LOGBOOK, PAGE NUMBER 350255, THE DISCREPANCY WAS LISTED AS, "HYD SYSTEM 1 FAIL'. JETTPRO MAINTENANCE AT KPIT FOUND A LEAK IN THE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER, PART NUMBER APTE-24-1000-5000A, AND A LEAK IN A HYDRAULIC LINE, PART NUMBER AE713790-16. BOTH THE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER AND THE HYDRAULIC LINE WERE REPLACED, THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WAS SERVICED, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE CREW OR PASSENGERS. THE FLIGHT CREW'S ACTIONS OR LACK OF ACTIONS DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
