## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ATTEMPTED A TAKEOFF IN A DHC-2 BEAVER FROM A NARROW, BRUSH-LINED, AIRSTRIP APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES WEST OF TALKEETNA, AK. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL THE LEFT WING CONTRACTED THE HIGH BRUSH CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE LEFT INTO THE BRUSH. PILOT ABORTED TAKEOFF. AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT, THE ONLY OCCUPANT. THE WEATHER WAS VFR WITH NO WIND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC08CA116](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC08CA116), Aug 30, 2008: de Havilland DHC-2 (N4081F), Talkeetna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable takeoff site, resulting in an on ground collision with tall brush.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
