## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE NR 4 ENGINE FIRE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE NR 4 ENGINE NACELLE TEMP GAUGE INDICATED INTO THE RED ZONE. THE CREW DISCHARGED THE NR 4 FIRE BOTTLE, DUMPED FUEL, AND RETURNED SAFELY TO KVCV. THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY EVACUATION OF THE CREW AND MILITARY PERSONNEL (CONTRACT FLIGHT FOR THE US ARMY). MAINTENANCE DISCOVERED A RUPTURED 13TH STAGE COOLING AIR DUCT AND HIGH PRESSURE HOT AIR (NO ACTUAL FIRE) DAMAGE TO THE NR 4 ENGINE RIGHT HAND CORE COWL. AFTER REPLACING THE DUCT AND COWL, THE ENGINE WAS OPERATIONALLY CHECKED OK. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN PLACED BACK INTO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
