## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N862FE, A CESSNA 208B WAS BEING OPERATED SINGLE PILOT BY MOUNTAIN AIR CARGO, A CONTRACT OPERATOR FOR FEDEX. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON A IFR REPOSITIONING FLIGHT FROM KISM TO KFLL. FOLLOWING CLIMB-OUT AT 2000 MSL, PILOT HEARD A LOUD CLICKING SOUND. DURING THAT SAME TIME PILOT NOTICED A DRAMATIC DECREASE IN OIL PRSSURE. PILOT DECLARED EMERGENCY INTO KMCO AND LANDED AIRCRAFT UNDER POWER. PILOT INDICATED THAT JUST PRIOR TO LANDING ENGINE VIBRATION WAS FELT, FOLLOWING UNEVENTFUL LANDING. ONCE PILOT CLEARED RUNWAY THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING UNCOMMANDED. PILOT THEN NOTICED THE INLET TURBINE TEMPERATURE WAS AT THE MAXIMUM END OF THE SCALE AND SMOKE AND PRESENT. PILOT PERFORMED ALL SHUT DOWN PROCEDURES PRIOR TO EXITING THE AIRCRAFT DUE TO HEAVY SMOKE. A SMALL FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE BELLOWS CONNECTING EXHAUST SECTION. FIRE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE EXHAUST SECTION AREA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
