## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON LANDING AT HANLEY FIELD (5Y7), A GAS POWERED WEEDEATER THAT WAS PROPPED UP ON THE BACK SEAT BECAME DISLODGED AND FELL ON TO THE FLOOR BETWEEN THE SEATS. THE PILOT BEGAN TO SMELL GAS FUMES. WHILE TAXIING BACK TO THE PARKING AREA, THE FUEL IGNITED. THE PILOT THEN EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY THE FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI08CA271](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI08CA271), Sep 2, 2008: Cessna T182T (N140NE), Munising, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The inadequate preflight planning/preparation by the pilot to carry a hazardous material aboard an airplane that resulted in a fire during an after-landing taxi.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
