## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS WAS A TRAINING FLIGHT CONDUCTED BY A 74 YEAR OLD PILOT WITH A PRIVATE SEL CERTIFICATE SEEKING TO OBTAIN A SPORT-PILOT WEIGHT-SHIFT ENDORSEMENT. THE FLIGHT WAS THE SECOND OF THE DAY. AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES INTO THE SECOND FLIGHT, THE PILOT CALLED ON THE AIRPORT FREQUENCY FOR A FULL STOP LANDING, AND FOR UNKNOWN REASON, THE PILOT CONDUCTED ANOTHER DEPARTURE. WITNESSES REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED QUICKLY WITH THE WING IN A VERY HIGH NOSE UP ANGLE AND THE ENGINE AT A VERY HIGH RPM. AT APPROXIMATELY 100-200 FEET THE WING STALLED. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE DROPPED AND BANKED LEFT GOING NEAR VERTICAL OR INVERTED. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SPIRALED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 270 DEGREES UNTIL IT IMPACTED THE GROUND ON THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08LA290](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08LA290), Sep 6, 2008: Airborne XT-912 (N227EK), Chelan, WA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed during initial climb, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
