## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS IN TOUCH AND GO PATTERN WHEN DATA RECORDER SHOWED FUEL FLOW SUDDENLY WENT TO ZERO. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT BUT CRASHED ON CENTERLINE OF RUNWAY ABOUT A MILE SHORT. FUEL WAS REMAINING IN AIRCRAFT AFTER CRASH. CRASH SCENE INDICATES A STALL-SPIN. POST CRASH ENGINE RUN DID NOT INDICATE ANY OBVIOUS CAUSE FOR STOPPAGE. CARBURETOR ICE IS POSSIBLE CAUSE BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO PROVE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW08FA228](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW08FA228), Sep 14, 2008: American Champion 7GCBC (N571JH), Wichita Falls, TX, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain safe flying airspeed resulting in an inadvertent stall during the forced landing. Contributing to the accident was the loss of engine power due to carburetor icing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
