## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2008, AT 1815 EDT, AN EXPERIMENTAL LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT N4839A, REGISTERED TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING UPON LANDING AT LAKE SEMINOLE, PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA WHILE ON A PART 91 LOCAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND THE STUDENT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM LAKE SEMINOLE, FLORIDA ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2008 AT 1800 HOURS. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER REPORTED THAT THE FLIGHT CONSISTED OF SEVERAL TURNS OVER THE LAKE SURFACE, AND THAT THAT THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED FLYING APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET ABOVE THE WATER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH FLOATS. ONE FLOAT SEPERATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT ON LANDING; THE OTHER SUSTAINED DAMAGE. THE SPORT-PILOT-CERTIFICATED PILOT HAD NOT BEEN ENDORSED FOR SEAPLANE CATEGORY AIRCRAFT AND HAD NOT COMPLETED THREE TAKEOFFS AND THREE LANDINGS PRIOR TO CARRYING A PASSENGER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
