## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND IN A WOODED AREA APPROX 800 TO 1000 FEET SOUTH OF THE WEST END OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT WAS BLOWN OFF COURSE, TO THE SOUTH, BY A GUST OF WIND AND AGAIN, BY ANOTHER GUST, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO LOSE ALTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SETTLED THROUGH THE TREES TO THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE TO THE WINGS AND FLOATS, TAIL ASSEMBLY, PROPELLER, AND THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN FROM THE MOUNT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW08CA239](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW08CA239), Sep 28, 2008: Gier Travis H Aventura II (N92TG), Montgomery, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during takeoff. A contributing factor was the wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
