## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON A WIDE GRASS RUNWAY WITH GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS. THE PILOT CONFIGURED THE AIRCRAFT WITH FULL FLAPS FOR LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED IN THE FLARE AND THE PILOT WAS LATE IN MAKING A CORRECTION. THE AIRCRAFT STALLED, DROPPING ITS RIGHT WING. THE RIGHT WING TIP AND NOSE IMPACTED THE TURF SHEARING THE NOSE AND LEFT MAIN GEAR OFF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH SHOULDER RESTRAINTS. BOTH FRONT SEAT OCCUPANTS HIT THE YOKES WITH THEIR FACES RECEIVING MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA006](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA006), Oct 9, 2008: Beech 23 (N317NF), Chesaning, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to adequately compensate for the gusting wind conditions during landing. Contributing to the accident were the gusting winds.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
