IT WAS A SHORT FLIGHT TO AFJ. DURING APPROACH TO AFJ, THE GEAR WAS SELECTED DOWN AND THE NOSE GEAR INDICATED UNSAFE. HE DECIED TO PROCEED VFR TO AGC AND THEN AFTER TALKING TO AGC, DECIDED TO GO TO PIT FOR EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT REASONS. AT PIT, AC-130 CREW REPORTED THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AND DURING TAXI THE PILOT NOTICED STEERING AUTHORITY WAS INADEQUATE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY NEAR THE TAXI TURN OFF. LOCAL MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL THEN SECURED THE GEAR IN DOWN POSITION AND TOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RAMP.
