## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON A VFR TRIP TO BRAINERD, MN (BRD) FROM ALEXANDRIA, MN. (AXN), THE PILOT PREPARED FOR APPROACH AND LANDING AT BRD AND WAS UNABLE TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. HE DIVERTED NORTH OF THE AIRPORT AND COMPLETED THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENTION CHECKLIST AND FOUND HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO MANUALLY EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR. HE TALKED TO MAINTENANCE PERSONAL TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANOTHER ALTERNATE METHOD OF LOWERING THE GEAR. HE RETURNED TO AXN AND FLEW FOR A TIME TO USE UP EXCESS FUEL AND THEN LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
