## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT/OWNER OF THE LUSCOMBE 8A WAS OUTSIDE THE AIRCRAFT STARTING THE AIRCRAFT BY HAND PROPING THE ENGINE. HE HAD INSTRUCTED HIS PASSENGER TO REDUCE THE THROTTLE SETTING WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED. THE PASSENGER, WHO IS NOT A CERTIFICATED PILOT AND WAS, SITTING IN THE RIGHT SEAT, DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE BRAKES. WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED, THE ENGINE POWER, ACCORDING TO THE PILOT APPEARED TO INCREASE. HE ATTEMPTED TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE LEFT SIDE CONTROLS, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN TAXIED INTO AN ADJACENT HANGER DOOR WHERE THE AIRCRAFT STOP AFTER RECEIVING DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS, PROPELLER, ENGINE MOUNT AND WINDSHIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
