## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED VAN NUYS AIRPORT FOR A FLIGHT TO CAMARILLO AIRPORT. ON APPROACH TO CAMARILLO THE PILOT HAD INDICATION OF AN UNSAFE LANDING GEAR. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED A MISSED APPROACH. DURING THE MISSED APPROACH CAMARILLO TOWER NOTIFIED THE PILOT THAT THE NOSE GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE PILOTS ELECTED TO RETURN TO VAN NUYS BECAUSE OF THE LONGER RUNWAY. WHILE ENROUTE THE PILOT TRIED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FULLY EXTEND THE NOSE GEAR. THE PILOT THEN MADE A FLY-BY AT VAN NUYS AIRPORT. THE VAN NUYS TOWER INFORMED THE PILOT THAT THE NOSE GEAR WAS STILL NOT FULLY EXTENDED. ON FINAL APPROACH TO VAN NUYS AIRPORT THE PILOT CUTOFF BOTH ENGINES. ON LANDING THE PILOT HELD THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT UP UNTIL AIRSPEED BLEED OFF. THE PARTIALLY EXTENDED NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED WHEN CONTACTING THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED TO A STOP ON RUNWAY 16R.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
