## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WAS THE PIC OF KING AIR N96FA WHEN IT LANDED IN THE GRASS FOLLOWING A GPS RWY 28 APPROACH AT WAYNE COUNTY AIRPORT (KBJJ), WOOSTER, OH, NO NOVEMBER 25, 2008. HE STATED HE HAD OBTAINED A REPORT FROM UNICOM THAT THE RUNWAY WAS WET. ON THE APPROACH, HE SAID HE SAW A CLEAR STRIP AND ASSUMED THAT TO BE THE RUNWAY. JUST BEFORE TOCHING DOWN HE REALIZED THAT HE WAS ABOUT TO TOUCHDOWN ON GRASS, COVERED WITH SOME SNOW. HE ACTUALLY TOUCHED DOWN BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE TAXIWAY. HE THEN MANEUVERED ONTO THE RUNWAY, AND STRUCK A RUNWAY LIGHT WITH ONE BLADE OF HIS PROP. HE STATED THE RUNWAY EDGE IDENTIFIER LIGHTS WERE NOT AMED OUT OF SERVICE, BUT THAT THEY WERE ON MEDIUM INTENSITY CONTINUOUSLY. HE SAID THAT IN ACTUALLITY, THEY WERE NOT ON. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO BE 11 BKN, 1400 OVC, 3/4 MILE VISIBILITY WITH SNOW. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NOTIFIED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF THE MKE FSDO OF THIS INCIDENT ON NOVEMBER 26, 2008 BY TELEPHONE; AND THEN FAXED A WRITTEN REPORT TO THE MKE FSDO. TAPES FROM CAK APPROACH CONFIRM THIS ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
