## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE SKYWEST CRJ-7, AT GATE C2 WAS PUSHED BACK BY UNITED GROUND HANDLERS. DUE TO THE RAMP CONDITIONS (ICY, SLUSHY, SNOW AND GLYCOL), APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET INTO THE PUSH, THE LEKTRO (A TOW BARLESS TRACTOR) LOST TRACTION. THE CREW TRIED TO RECOVER THE PUSH BY PULLING AIRCRAFT BACK INTO THE GATE AND THEN PUSHING BACK AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AGAIN DUE TO LOST TRACTION. THE CREW WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CRJ-7'S TAIL SOUTH TO HIT THE "MARK" AND DECIDED TO PUSH THE AIRCRAFT STRAIGHT BACK PUTTING THE AIRCRAFT OVER THE 'ZIPPER LINE' BY APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET. AS THE GROUND HANDLERS ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE LEKTRO (THAT HAD NOW LOST BATTERY POWER) WITH A TOW BAR PUSH, THE AER LINGUS A-330 AIRCRAFT, ON TAXIWAY 'A', STRUCK THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WITH ITS RIGHT WINGLET.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
