## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 22, 2008, AT APPROXIMATELY 1745 LOCAL TIME, N70LR LANDED ON RUNWAY 22 AT CLOVIS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (CVN), CLOVIS, NEW MEXICO, WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 1090 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY 22 THRESHOLD AND SKIDDED APPROXIMATELY 2500 FEET, THEN WENT OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE DIRT AND CAME TO REST FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE PILOT AND 4 PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE PILOT STATED HE LOWERED THE GEAR BUT DID NOT REMEMBER SEEING GEAR DOWN INDICATION LIGHTS. EXAMINATION OF THE LANDING GEAR REVEALED THE MAIN GEAR WAS UNLOCKED WITH NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE TO THE GEAR DOORS OR LANDING GEAR ASSEMBLIES. THE PILOT STATED HE SELECTED 10 DEGREES OF FLAPS. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE FOUND SHOWING DAMAGE TO FLAP TRAILING EDGES DURING LANDING. FLAPS WERE FOUND IN THE FULL UP POSITION. INBOARD FLAP TRACKS WERE GROUND DOWN PREVENTING FURTHER FLAP MOVEMENT. THE NOSE GEAR WAS IN THE UP AND LOCKED POSITION. AFTER RAISING THE AIRCRAFT, POWER WAS APPLIED AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR LOWERED AND LOCKED. THE GEAR SWITCH WAS CYCLED ONCE, AND ALL GEAR RETRACTED AND EXTENDED NORMALLY. GEAR ANNUNCIATOR LIGHTS AND AURAL WARNING WORKED NORMALLY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA118](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA118), Dec 23, 2008: Socata TBM 700 (N70LR), Clovis, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to complete the before-landing checklist, which led to his failure to lower the gear before landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
