## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT CRUISE THE PIC NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE MONITOR INDICATED THAT THE EGT (EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE) AND CHT (CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE) FOR THE NR 3 CYLINDER ON THE NR 2 ENGINE WAS VERY LOW. THE ENGINE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE RUNNING ROUGH AND THE OIL TEMPERATURE AND OIL PRESSURE WERE NORMAL. HE DECIDED TO RETURN TO FXE AND INFORMED ATC OF HIS INTENTIONS WITHOUT DECLARING AND EMERGENCY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAKEN TO BANYAN REPAIR STATION WHERE AN INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE LOSS OF POWER WAS DUE TO A BROKEN VALVE WHICH DAMAGED THE PISTON AND NR 3 CYLINDER. THE NR 3 CYLINDER ASSEMBLY WHICH INCLUDED THE VALVE AND PISTON WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR STATION SUBMITTED AN M&D REPORT FOR THE DAMAGED VALVE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
