## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED HE WAS MANEUVERING AT 800-1000 FT AGL AT A REDUCED POWER SETTING WITH THE CARB HEAT OFF. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12F/11C. THE PILOT STATED THAT WHEN HE ADDED POWER THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE PROPELLER STOPPED. AN ATTEMPTED RE-START WITH THE STARTER DID NOT TURN THE PROPELLER. THE EMERGENCY LANDING TO A FARM FIELD RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR, FIREWALL, AND WING SPAR. EVALUATION OF THE ENGINE INDICATES THE ENGINE ROTATES NORMALLY, HAS COMPRESSION ON ALL CYLINDERS AND WILL TURN WITH STARTER ENGAGEMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
