## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 8, 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 1255 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT OF N6696Y, A BEECHCRAFT MODEL BE-55, WAS LANDING AT SAN LUIS OBISPO AIRPORT (SBP). IN A STATEMENT FROM THE PILOT, HE WAS PRACTICING THE APPROACH WITH A CIRCLE TO LAND WITH A SHORT FINAL BUT WAS CONCENTRATING ON MAINTAINING AN EXACT AIRSPEED AND CONTROLLING THE TOUCHDOWN POINT AND FORGOT TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
