## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ANCHORAGE FSDO INCIDENT NUMBER IS: IAL0320090010THE PILOT STATED: WE WERE UNABLE TO FLY THE 'RWY 25 ILS' APPROACH INTO ADQ DUE TO TAILWIND LIMITS. WE THEREFORE PLANNED THE 'RNAV RWY 36' APPROACH. THE WEATHER WAS GOOD 1300/6, WITH WINDS OUT OF THE NE. RWY 36 'MU' VALUES WERE 40 AND ABOVE (GOOD BRAKING ACTION). BEFORE INITIATING THE APPROACH WE HELD TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL RUNWAY SANDING ON 'RWY 36'. IN PREPARATION FOR LANDING WE SELECTED MAXIMUM AUTOBRAKES AND FLAPS 40. UPON LANDING WE FOUND THE BRAKING ACTION TO BE 'POOR TO NIL'. WITH MAXIMUM BRAKING AND FULL REVERSE THRUST, WE FOUND THE DECELERATION TO BE INSUFICIENT WITH RUNWAY REMAINING. WE RECOGNIZED OUR ONLY VIABLE OPTION WAS TO USE A SHALLOW SNOW BERM ALONG THE RUNWAY EDGE TO HELP SAFELY STOP OUR AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND RIVER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
