## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INSTRUCTOR PILOT (PIC) STATES THE FOLLWING, "WE LANDED AND WERE GOING DOWN THE RUNWAY NICE AND STRAIGHT, I TOLD HIM HE DID A GOOD JOB AND THEN HE MADE A HARD LEFT TURN I SAID DON'T DO THAT AND WHEN I SAW IT WAS STILL TURNING LEFT I TRIED TO CORRECT TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS TOO LATE FOR THE KIND OF RUDDER PEDALS THAT ARE IN THE BACK, IT WAS LIKE HE HAD A LOT OF PRESSURE RUDDER OR IT WAS LOCKED AND WOULD NOT GO RIGHT. I BENT THE RUDDER PEDAL ROD TRYING". THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING AND THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR WAS TORN FROM THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE GROUND LOOP. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA095](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA095), Jan 21, 2009: Dickson Vans RV-8 (N396JD), El Monte, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
