## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FEBRUARY 8, 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 1030 LOCAL TIME, A PIPER PA-30, N10JR, ATTEMPTED A TAKEOFF FROM THE GRASS STRIP AT HANNAS ACRES AIRPORT (D75) IN LIVONIA, NEW YORK. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OWNED AND OPERATED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. HE IS THE HOLDER OF COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE NUMBER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WITH AMEL AND INSTRUMENT RATING. THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND COMPLETED A TAKEOFF ROLL CLIMBING TO AN APPROXIMATE ALTITUDE OF 30 FEET AGL. THE LEFT ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AND THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT BACK ON THE RUNWAY. HOWEVER, CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOST. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, RIGHT WING, BOTH PROPELLERS AND THE COLLAPSE OF THE NOSE AND LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09LA158](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09LA158), Feb 8, 2009: Piper PA-30 (N10JR), Lakeville, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control following a loss of engine power on the left engine for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
