## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 12 FEBRUARY, 2009, AT 1740 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME, A TWIN ENGINE BEECH 95-55A WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH TREES AND TERRAIN WEST OF RUNWAY 17 AT WILLIAMS AIRPORT (9X1). VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE PERSONAL FLIGHT WAS OPERATING UNDER TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91. THE COMMERCIAL RATED PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE FATALLY INJURED. ACCORDING TO WITNESS STATEMENTS THE AIRCRAFT HAD MADE A NORMAL APPROACH FROM THE NORTH BUT NEVER MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAYS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SAID TO DECEND TO 10 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY AND HELD ALTITUDE. AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE PILOT APPLIED POWER AND INITIATED A CLIMB. THE AIRCRAFT THEN ROLLED TO THE RIGHT IN A NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE BEFORE IMPACTED THE TREES WEST OF THE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09FA164](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09FA164), Feb 12, 2009: Beech 95-A55 (N9648Y), Porter, TX, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during an aborted landing for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
