## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PRACTICE A POWER-OFF STALL WHEN HE LOST CONTROL. HE STATED HE DID NOT KNOW HAPPENED BUT THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON ITS BACK (UPSIDE DOWN) FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. AFTER HE RECOVERED THE AIRCRAFT, HE PRECEDED TO THE STATSBORO AIRPORT AND LANDED WITH NO FLAPS. BOTH WINGS, FLAPS, AND FUSELAGE EXPERIENCED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09CA175](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09CA175), Feb 16, 2009: Cessna 172 (N9289H), Reidsville, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during an attempted recovery from a stall/spin.

## Other reports on N9289H (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19800424018289A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800424018289A), Apr 24, 1980: Cessna 172M (N9289H), New Smyrna Beac, FL, No damage

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
