## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THE FOLLOWING; IN THE LANDING FLARE A STRONG GUST OF WIND PICKED UP THE LEFT WING AND HE WAS UNABLE TO GET IT BACK DOWN. HE ADDED FULL POWER TO GO AROUND BUT THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO ROLL TO THE RIGHT AND THE RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY. WEATHER CONDITIONS; STRONG GUSTY WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHWEST (10-15 M.P.H. WITH GUSTS 20-25MPH) VISIBILITY; CLEAR AND UNRESTRICTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09LA183](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09LA183), Feb 20, 2009: Cessna 182 (N3710D), Kelleys Island, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control while landing in gusty winds due to inadequate aileron cable tension.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
