## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING, SKY WEST FLIGHT 7816, AN EMB-120 AIRCRAFT, N270YV, WAS TAXING TO ITS ASSIGNED PARKING SPOT IN THE RAMP AREA AFTER A MAINTENANCE REPOSITION FLIGHT, WHEN THE RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK THE REAR OF A FUEL TRUCK. THE FUEL TRUCK WAS PARKED APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET AWAY FROM THE DOUBLE YELLOW TAXIWAY EDGE LINE, BUT NOT IN A DESIGNATED PARKING AREA. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 15 FEET WITH THE RIGHT WING STILL IN CONTACT WITH THE FUEL TRUCKS TANK BEFORE IT CAME TO A STOP. THE WINGTIP FAIRING WAS CRUSHED AND NEARLY SEVERED FROM THE AIRCRAFT IN THE COLLISION. COMPONENTS WITHIN THE WINGTIP WERE EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. WINGTIP FAIRING ATTACH POINTS WERE DAMAGED, AND THE OUTBOARD WING RIB RECEIVED SEVERAL SCRAPES AND SMALL GOUGES. THE WING SPAR WAS UNDAMAGED, BUT MINOR DAMAGE WAS NOTED ON THE OUTBOARD AILERON SKIN AND THE LOWER WING SKIN WHERE IT ATTACHES AT THE FORWARD PORTION OF THE OUTBOARD WING RIB. THE FUEL TRUCK RECEIVED MINOR SCRATCHES. THE FUEL TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT HE DID NOT SEE OR HEAR THE AIRCRAFT AS IT APPROACH FROM BEHIND. BOTH FLIGHT CREWMEMBERS STATED THAT THEY SAW THE FUEL TRUCK, BUT MADE NO VERBAL COMMUNICATION ABOUT IT. THE CAPTAIN MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT ABOUT 4 FEET TO THE LEFT OF THE TAXIWAY CENTER LINE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL CLEARANCE FROM THE FUEL TRUCK. THE FIRST OFFICER WATCHED OUT HIS SIDE WINDOW AND LATER STATED THAT HE THOUGHT THERE WAS ENOUGH CLEARANCE. THREE CREWMEMBERS AND A MECHANIC WERE THE ONLY OCCUPANTS OF THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09IA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09IA123), Feb 21, 2009: Embraer EMB-120ER (N270YV), Salt Lake City, UT, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: The flight crew's failure to maintain clearance from the stationary vehicle while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
