## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE HELICOPTER WAS TAXIED OVER TO POINT OF DEPARTURE AND PERFORMED 3 HOVER AUTOROTATIONS. A NORMAL TAKEOFF AND CLIMB WERE INITIATED, THEN A STRAIGHT OUT DEPARTURE FROM TORRANCE AIRPORT. PILOT CLIMBED TO 2000 FEET MSL UPON REACHING THE BEACH AREA BEGAN TO LOWER THE COLLECTIVE AND SIMUTANEOUSLY ROLL DOWN THE THROTTLE TO INITIATE AND AUTOROTATION AS PART OF THE MANUFACTURERS PROVING TESTS. AS SOON AS PILOT MADE THIS POWER ADJUSTMENT, THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY WAS AUTOROTATED AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
