## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING A CUB CRAFTERS SUPER CUB. AFTER LANDING ROLL OUT THE AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT, THE PILOT CORRECTED WITH RIGHT RUDDER PEDAL, THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAS AN EST 100 HOURS OF PREVIOUS TAILWHEEL EXPERIENCE. HE STATED HE HAD NOT FLOWN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRCRAFT IN MANY YEARS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ISSUE WAS NOT DURING THE TAKEOFF OR LANDING, BUT DURING THE ROLL OUT AFTER LANDING. HE STATED HE WAS ONLY GOING AN ESTIMATED 10 MPH, HE MADE A CORRECTION FOR THE AIRCRAFT VEERING SLIGHTLY LEFT. AS HE MADE THIS CORRECTION, HE BELIEVES HE HIT THE RIGHT HEEL BRAKE ACCIDENTALLY. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NORMALLY FLIES AN AIRPLANE WITH TOE BRAKES, WHICH REQUIRES THE FEET TO REST ON THE FLOOR SO AS NOT TO INADVERTENTLY RIDE THE TOE BRAKES. HE FEELS THIS HABIT LED TO HIS FOOT BEING FAR ENOUGH BACK ON THE FLOOR IN THE SUPER CUB TO HIT THE HEEL BRAKE WHEN MAKING THE STEERING CORRECTION. HE STATED THE BRAKE FELT LIKE IT GRABBED AGGRESSIVELY. THE PILOT WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE AIRPLANE, WHICH PUT THE CENTER OF GRAVITY TOWARD THE FORWARD LIMITS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA127](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA127), Feb 23, 2009: Cub Crafters PA-18-150 (N324A), Buckeye, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
