## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PRIOR TO THE STUDENT PILOT'S SECOND SUPERVISED SOLO, SHE TAXIED N734WD TO KANSAS CITY AVIATION CENTER FBO TO LET HER INSTRUCTOR OFF ON THE RAMP. THE AIRPLANE'S RADIO REMAINED ON THE LOCAL CONTROL FREQUENCY. THE STUDENT CLAIMED THAT HER INSTRUCTOR TOLD HER THAT SHE COULD PROCEED" UP THE TAXIWAY" TO RUNWAY 36 (TAXIWAY A PARALLELS THE RUNWAY ON THE WEST SIDE). CONSEQUENTLY, SHE DID NOT CONTACT ATC FOR A TAXI CLEARANCE TO RUNWAY 36, NOT WAS THE CONTROLLER ONDUTY AWARE OF HER MOVEMENT FROM THE RAMP. ANOTHER AIRPLANE, 5258Y WITH A PASSENGER ABOARD, WAS HOLDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY ON TAXIWAY B. HE WAS CLEARED TO CROSS RUNWAY 36 AT TAXIWAY J, AND THEN TO PROCEED VIA TAXIWAY A TO THE END. AS N5258Y WAS TURNING ONTO TAXIWAY A, IT COLLIDED WITH THE STUDENT PILOT'S AIRPLANE. N5258Y'S PROPELLER CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO N734WD'S LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER, LEFT WING, AND FLAP SURFACE. DAMAGE TO N5258Y WAS MINOR; A BENT PROPELLER AND COWL DENTS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS.
