## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 02, 2009, 15:30 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME A SINGLE ENGINE STARDUSTER TOO SA300, EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT, N2262, WAS SUBSTANITALLY DAMAGED FOLLOWING LOSS OF CONTROL DURING TAKEOFF (AIRBORNE) FROM KESTREL AIRPARK (1T7) RUNWAY 30. PER PILOT STATEMENT, DURING THE INITIAL TAKEOFF ROLL, A GUST OF WIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. WHEN THE TIRE LEFT THE PAVEMENT, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND STARTED DOWN THE EMBANKMENT BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY. LEFT RUDDER CAUSED THE NOSE TO MOVE LEFT, BUT THE LEFT WING CAME UP. CORRECTIVE RUDDER BROUGHT THE WING BACK DOWN, BUT THE AIRCRAFT WAS HEADED DOWN THE EMBANKMENT, WHICH HAS AN INCREASING SLOPE IN THE DIRECTION OF DEPARTURE. THE PILOT PULLED BACK ON THE STICK AND THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE GROUND BUT LACKED SUFFICIENT AIRSPEED TO CLIMB. THROUGH NUMEROUS STALLS THE AIRCRAFT CART WHEELED OVER THE RIGHT WING AND CAME TO REST UPRIGHT ON THE EMBANKMENT BETWEEN THE TAXIWAY AND THE RUNWAY. THE RIGHT WINGS AND THE LANDING GEAR WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THE GEAR BUNGEE(S) WERE BROKEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE LEFT GEAR WAS PARTIALLY COLLAPSED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM SCENE WITHOUT APPROVAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA184](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA184), Mar 2, 2009: Marrero Andres Starduster (N2262D), San Antonio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control during take off. Contributing to the accident was the crosswind component.
