AMENDMENT - THE FLIGHT CREW OF N76SF WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 29 AT KBMI. DURING THE LANDING FLARE THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A VERY STRONG WIND GUST AND THE FLIGHT CREW INITIATED A GO AROUND. DURING THE LAG TIME FOR ENGINE SPOOL UP, THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED RIGHT THEN LEFT DUE TO THE WIND GUST AND FIRST THE RIGHT AND THEN LEFT WINGTIP STRUCK THE RUNWAY. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE REPORTED WIND WAS FROM 260 DEGREES AT 35 KTS GUSTING TO 48 KTS. THE CROSSWIND COMPONENT WAS 24KTS, THE MAXIMUM LIMIT FOR A CHALLENGER 604 ON A DRY RUNWAY. THE CREW COMPLETED THE GO AROUND MANEUVER, THEN DIVERTED TO DECATUR, IL (KDEC) AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
